He won!!!!!!! Woooohooo!!!!! He is awesome and I am soooo excited for him!!!!

Another season comes to an end

Dale Jr will be heading over to his new race team for the 2008 season. He didn't end on a positive note but it really was par for the course for this season.

Jimmie Johnson won the Nextel Cup for a second year in a row. H is happy as this is the driver he likes the most. He is the driver I really dislike and not because he is a bad driver. Far from it. I hate to say but yes, he is a great driver!

So now I have to start the count down to the new season. It opens in Daytona and the big event is Feb 17th..... the Daytona 500!!!!!

NASCAR News

I have been avoiding talking about this. Like if I didn't, it wouldn't be true.

Dale Jr is going to race for Hendrick racing for the 2008 season. WHAT? I mean, I am sooooo glad he will be racing but that never really seemed in question. It was more of a question of where and will Bud still be his sponsor? And what will his car # be? I mean HE is #8! Hendrick is an amazing race team! Gordon, Johnson.... Two of the big dogs, ya know?

But Hendrick is a rival to DEI. I have never been a fan of Gordon or Johnson. Never. I cannot see that I will be when Jr is a teammate to them either. I will be a Jr fan and only his fan. Okay him and Tony Stewart, I mean, hello.... Tony Stewart!

There are a few others I like but Dale Jr and Tony are my faves.

Anyway, I am still in a little shock but overall happy that he will be racing in 2008 and for a great team. Just wish it was Childress or Joe Gibbs Racing..... I don't know.... Anywhere but Hendrick! :)

Astros Opening Day

Its Baseball season!!!!! And, the Astros play their season opener today. Oswalt is on the mound against the Pirates.

I won't be home in time to see the game from the beginning but hoping I can get settled in for most of it.

I usually don't get home until 6:00-ish anyway.... and today gotta go to the store for cat food. Thankfully what I feed them doesn't have the wheat glutten in it so hopefully we are good for food.

Soooo anyway, go Stros!!!!!

And, just an update on the NAScar season. Dale Jr. has not won a race yet but has done well. He has moved up in the points to 11th which is really good. Jimmie Johnson, who I don't care for great driver but not my fave, has won 4 out of the 6 races..... or something like that. They are talking about changing the name of Victory Lane to Jimmie Lane. Okay not really but ugh! So the next race is the 15th at Texas Motorspeedway. I cannot wait! I just wish I could go! Some day I will. Someday. (Its on my list.)

Day Three without the kids

Its a work day so that will keep me really busy. Actually should be a busy week! We have our Houston College Recruiting event to get ready for. I'm actually really excited though I might whine a little this week about being so busy..... but overall I love this stuff!

The race at Vegas yesterday did not go well for Dale Jr. Now I don't remember what place he finished in but it couldn't have been good. He was doing great all day, was in the top 10 most of the race. Around lap 14 there was a caution which means a lot of people will make pit stops..... but the track officials will usually keep the pit lane closed until all the cars cirlce back around. He didn't realize it was closed and went in..... There was another driver in front of him and he pitted too but that was because he had trouble with his car, that is the only reason they could pit when it is closed. There was yet another driver behind Dale but he realized at the last second that pit lane was closed and was able to get back on the track. Sooooo anyway, Dale had to move from 5th to last place. Yikes! With only a few laps to go, I'm sure he didn't gain too many places. And, to top it all off Jimmie Johnson won. Great driver but I'm not a fan.

Then I got to see Goofball last night and wow, just had a good time. No an awesome time. We played Burnout on Playstation 2..... I love that game! He also agreed to watch the video scrapbook that my parents' made for me when I turned 30 (4 yrs ago)...... I thought that was pretty darn cool of him to watch it. And, in between that was just hung out and talked. I don't know yet when I will get to see him again but I'm sure that we will find some time in the next couple of months.

Overall I have a smile on my face and I'm tired as hell but ready to get down to work!

Day Two without the kids

Not that I am counting.... okay maybe a little. I love the break I am getting and I'm soo glad they get time with their dad but I am missing them like crazy.

So day one went great. I finally, finally found a comforter that I like, no love. It was on sale and got some sheets (which weren't originally on my list) for more than half off.... ($120 -> $40).

Then I got some new blinds for most of the windows. There are 3 main windows: Living room, K's bedroom and my bedroom. And, they all needed new blinds. I got the 2" Faux wood ones. The cat will have a MUCH harder time bending these all to hell.

Had an appt at the salon. Niiiice. Gotta love "me" time.

Went to the store, got just a small cart of stuff.

Came home and cleaned like crazy. Ate a nice dinner in bed while watching a movie (Little Miss Sunshine..... because I am that far behind on movies).

Today is shaping up like this. I'm about to head over to Target. Why? Vacuum cleaner. Mine broke. It was a second-hand one from my mom. If I don't find one fairly cheap though, I might just try to fix this one yet again.

Then dad will be over to help me with the blinds.

More cleaning.

NASCar is in Vegas, baby! Gotta watch at least part of the race, if not all of it.

Then get ready for my evening. What is this evening? Goofball. Nuff said.....

NASCAR!!!!

Okay so it is Sunday again (okay I'm cheating and doing this on Saturday night!).

This means another race! This time the Auto Club 500 out at the California Speedway. I may end up missing a lot of this race because of plans I have tomorrow but we shall see. If I'm at my parents' house maybe I can talk them in to letting me watch it.

So I was checking out the NASCar website and saw that they had the commercials on there from the Daytona 500. My own personal opinion (could be a bit bias here) is that these were better than the batch from the Super Bowl this year which I normally like.

If you check out the commercials.... You have got to check out the Oreo Yum one. In fact, just check it out!!! It is soooo worth it. Page 2.

Oh and Dale Jr qualified 5th again. Let's just hope he has a better week. Finish this race without wrecking, Dale, please?

UPDATE: Okay Dale is out. Damn! Something is going on with engines out there because several of the top drivers are struggling. While others are doing really great. GO TONY!!!!!

DAYTONA 500

Today is the DAYTONA 500!!!! This is just the biggest race of the year!

I have been trying to decide who I think will win.... and honestly, I don't care! As long its a good race!

I'm sooooo glad it is race season again!!!! Whoohooo.

UPDATE: The race is nearly finished. Most of the drivers that I would like to have seen win are out. Most recently Dale Jr, my fave all time driver. Tony Stewart is out. Even the Nextel Cup winner for 2006, Jimmie Johnson is out. And, so many more. The race is now red flagged, which means they will stop until they clear the track of the debris from the most current wreck that took Dale Jr out. At this point, I am cheering Mark Martin to win! He is a veteran of the sport and has been driving amazingly well. So once they green flag the race, it will be 3 laps to go.

FINAL UPDATE: Kevin Harvick won. Mark Martin second. Damn! There was a wreck just before the final turn..... Kevin won just by a tiny bit. He became the driver in place of Dale Sr. when he passed away Feb 18, 2001.

Next week at California Speedway.

"Boogity, Boogity, Boogity! Let's go racin' boys!"

This phrase was heard again tonight as NASCar kicked up its season with the Budweiser Shootout! (It just started!)

Boogity, Boogity, Boogity is the catch phrase of Darrell Waltrip one of the retired drivers turned announcer! I love him. Miss his racing but he is an awesome announcer. Fun, fun, fun.

So my boy is moving and groovin'. He really sounds more motivated for this year so I'm hoping for a good year for him.

Just had to make the announcement that NASCar is back!
