In a rut?

Sometimes I feel like my life is in a rut. I do the same things everyday. I see the same people. I wear the same clothes. I have the same worries. I eat the same foods. My life doesn't change much. And most of the time I am okay with that.

But there are others times I get itchy, restless. Not ready to settle on what life has handed me. I want to take risks and step out of my comfort zone but....

For some reason I lose my nerve. I stay in my comfort zone. I keep doing the same things. I do try not to complain most of the time either because I know I did it. I know I am the one and only holding me back.

I guess this is one of those times that I miss having a partner next to me (girl or guy, just a friend to take risks with). I don't have a best friend, I don't have a sister and I don't have a spouse.... though this could easily be a role that Goofball could fill if time and schedules were not an issue for both of us. (and no I don't mean spouse, just partner in crime type of role).....

I need that moral support to help me get over my fears. Fears of what? Oh looking stupid! Falling down. Tripping over someone. All those things.

It is silly really but it is all part of my mental health (healthy and unhealthy)....

But honestly I have no idea how to fix it. So basically I am just whining for nothing right now.

Allright now, take your pick:

A) Sit at home and fix your computer

B) Go out and party like it's 2009! Have a good time. Take a load off.

C) Drive around and debate about what to do.

Only you can prevent humdrum! So help me, if you pick C.....

I feel just like this and I know a couple of other people have said the same thing. I don't know if it is the time of year or age or what. I have a husband and it doesn't make a difference. He is still not my partner in crime. lol.

Oh I totally pick.... C! I can't believe you don't like doing that! :)

Well actually this week we need to at least look at my computer(s) and then maybe we can go to Sam's Boat for a drink and appetizer? though it is usually pretty crowded. So something...

I hate crowds.

Fairy,
Yeah, i know what you mean. I guess part of my problem lately is lack of girlfriends or sister/SIL. *sigh*.... It was fun to have my new SIL here for a few hours recently but she lives too far to see more often.

OK, now really, we need to figure out what this vortex is between H-Town and my area because I'm convinced that we share a brain/life.

I've been mulling over some very similar things. I think Fairy is right - it has to do with the time of year. The holidays are over and (where I live) we now face into at least 2 months of bitter cold and nasty weather. This means that commuting, running errands etc. are even ickier and more stressful than usual.

That, added to my own ongoing issues (lack of female friends, career at an apparent standstill) makes for some extra feelings of "stuck-ness".

To combat this, I've been trying to truly value what I have: spouse, pets, bloggy friends (wish y'all lived closer), a home I love, new workout possbilities thanks to a Wii Fit, a job (not everyone is so fortunate these days). I hope I don't sound preachy...I just want to share my thoughts. We are on the same wavelength!

UGH ruts suck! I have been stuck in one for the last 4 years. Things just seem to difficult and a pain in the butt to do as a single mom.

Sometimes you just have to kick yourself in the arse and move, but that is easier said than done...so I continue to sit here too.

My heart goes out to you.

Good lord, you are all going through what is call "your thirties". LOL, in fact it is well known that before yor thirties you're all go, during you're all bummed and after you've finally given in and settled.

A lot of marriages would work or last longer if women would realize this.

I feel the same way every now and then too. But doing a little something different helps. Anything to break out the routine...like maybe going to the spa or something.

Choose an activity that's just for you...that usually works for me.

Hey nice to see another single mom blogger! I found you off iheartsingleparents.com. Getting out of your comfort zone as a single parent is VERY hard to do, mostly because it took so long to find it! Baby steps. Baby steps. We're all testing our comfort zones together!

Hey! Don't knock yourself - you're doing great and it doesn't hurt to have a downtime once in a while - that's generally when the batteries recharge and you're ready to take off again.

I have a good hubby, friends and 7 kids (5 are adults) and I still stay in my comfort zone. Sometimes I wish I was more adventurous, but over all, looking back, my life is good. I am blessed.
At 51, I have finally learned to take some 'me' time though. It gets me out of that funky mood.
